FRIENDS With Dignity will welcome former Australian of the Year Rosie Batty as a special keynote speaker for its High Tea With Friends at Brisbane City Hall on May 18.
The anti domestic violence campaigner - who was named as an ambassador for the charity last September, will meet and greet guests and personally sign copies of her book A Mother's Story at the event.
She said she hoped to use the role as a platform to raise awareness and draw attention to the charity's work.
"I've always looked at ways to help with fundraising across Australia for those who are assisting victims in crisis," she said.
"What I like about Friends With Dignity is that they have identified a gap and a need and offer a very practical way to help support victims at a time of crisis."
The charity gathers donations of new and pre-owned whitegoods, furniture and household items to help transform empty spaces into sanctuaries for people leaving refuge and was named Australian Charity of the Year in 2018.
The charity will also hold a similar event at the Southport Sharks Event Centre on the Gold Coast on May 11.
Vanessa Fowler - sister of the late Allison Baden-Clay and chairwoman of the Allison Baden-Clay Foundation, will be the keynote speaker at the Gold Coast event.
Both events will take place from 2-5pm.
Tickets can be purchased online and discounts are available for group bookings.
