SENIORS across the state will be urged to Love Your Life during the NSW Seniors Festival from February 13-24.
The theme is a playful nod to the fact that Valentine’s Day falls during the festival.
And there will be plenty on offer to help seniors love their lives.
The hottest tickets in town will see thousands enjoy the Premier’s Gala Concerts at ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour, on February 14-15. The star-studded line-up includes Marina Prior, Casey Donovan, Lonnie Lee, Adam Brand and Tim Campbell.
Running in tandem with the concerts will be the free Seniors Festival Expo where you can practice your putting, pick up free show bags, learn how to save on energy bills, reduce your cost of living and find innovative ways to update your home.
“We’ve tried to shake things up in 2019 by offering new entertainment and more experiences at the expo … and expect to draw record crowds this year,” said Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies.
COMEDY
It will be a laugh a minute when the Comedy Show takes over Sydney Town Hall on February 19. Under the watchful eye of host Wendy Harmer, comedians Rebecca De Unamuno, Peter Berner, Tommy Dean, Bruce Griffiths, Mich Meredith and Dave Williams will give their side-splitting takes on loving your life.
Continuing the love theme is a forum, Loving Life in Late Life, in Burwood on February 14.
Organised by the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age and the Psychogeriatric Nurses Association, the free forum brings together experts to discuss what it means to grow old, whether we can “age disgracefully” and how the elderly should be cared for. As well as medical professionals, speakers also include Mary Magias from Carers NSW and Ainsley Lamb from U3A.
The Apia Young at Heart Film Festival returns for its 14th showing, with tickets for all general sessions just $8.50 for anyone over 60.
The program of 15 titles is a collection of hilarious and heartfelt comedies, must-see documentaries and critically acclaimed dramas.
