A PROGRAM of wonder and excitement is how Castlemaine State Festival director Glyn Roberts describes this year’s cultural extravaganza.
With almost 70 performance, visual arts, music and dance offerings the program has been inspired by the region and its people.
“Castlemaine is a place that is contemporary, classical and most importantly, communal and we are thrilled to have several exclusive to Castlemaine events,” said Mr Roberts.
Music lovers are catered for with a variety of genres. Highlights include Italian harpist Floraleda Sacchi, violinist Ye-Eun Choi and master of the viola da gamba Jordi Savall.
Circa’s Peepshow promises human pyramids and awe-inspiring acrobatics, while Korea’s Ambiguous Dance Company’s Body Concert features 10 acts of wild movements.
Venues throughout the city feature a smorgasbord of visual arts; and an eclectic film program will satisfy movie buffs.
Described as a festival within a festival, Dialogues features four days of presentations and workshops exploring the future of living regionally in an ever-changing world.
The festival from March 22-31 is Australia’s largest regional arts festival with more than 40,000 people expected to attend its free and ticketed events.
