Why Two is better than one for these married co-stars.

MEET THE husband and wife co-stars who are blurring the boundaries between home and work.

In between doing the washing up and weekly shopping actors Brian Meegan and Kate Raison have been busy rehearsing with each other for their on-stage appearance in Brisbane in March.

The married couple is starring in Jim Cartwright’s timeless comedy Two at QUT Gardens Theatre on March 1 and 2.

This Australian production introduces 14 colourful characters, all played by Meegan (Sea Patrol, Water Rats) and Raison (A Country Practice, E-Street).

The pair said they are delighted to be working together again.

“There are two of us, and two in the play. The story centres on the landlady and landlord who work in a rural pub and all the fascinating characters that frequent it.

“We are so lucky to be able to play all those characters. It’s a very funny piece, a comedy that’s also extremely heartfelt. It’s a joy for us to do,” they said.

Meegan and Raison’s real life chemistry makes for a perfect combination on stage, according to director Mark Kilmurry.

“Jim Cartwright is a master at balancing comedy with the bittersweet, and Two is one of his finest plays,” he said.

This is not the first time Meegan and Raison have played a fictional couple. They played a screen actor and his ex-wife in Joanna Murray-Smith's Ninety in 2010, and in 1997 they played a separated couple reliving their failed courtship and marriage in Norm Foster's Wrong for Each Other.

Two is the first production of QUT Gardens Theatre’s 2019 season. On March 1 and 2, 7.30pm
