SUBMISSIONS can now be made to the royal commission investigating Australia’s aged care industry.
Members of the public and organisations have until at least the end of June this year to make a submission using an online form on the royal commission’s website. A date for the closing of submissions will be announced in the second half of 2019.
Submissions can be made anonymously and without contact details.
Submissions can also be made in writing: GPO Box 1151 Adelaide SA 5001, email: ACRCenquiries@royalcommission.gov.au or by telephone 1800-960-711 (between 8:00am-8:00pm AEDT Monday-Friday except on public holidays).
The royal commission’s preliminary hearing will take place on January 18 in Adelaide at Courtroom 11, Level 3, Roma Mitchell Commonwealth Law Court Building, 3 Angas Street, starting at 10 am.
There will be limited public seating and those attending should allow 35 to 40 minutes for security screening.
The royal commission is required to present an interim report by October 31 and a final report by April 30.
The royal commission is separate from the Aged Care Quality and Complaints Commission (ACQCC) which investigates complaints about residential and home-based aged care services.
Anyone with a complaint about their aged care or the care of someone they know can contact the ACQCC through its website or by phoning 1800-951-822.
