HOT on the bare heels of their female counterparts – who posed for their own nude calendar in late 2016, a group of men from Starrett Lodge in Hamlyn Terrace have followed suit, or birthday suit as the case may be.
The new calendar channels the spirit of firefighters and others who pose without clothes for a good cause, aiming to raise funds for The Bucket List – a program which raises funds so residents can fulfill lifelong dreams.
It features shirtless men ranging in age from 70-91 who are photographed in various poses reflecting interests or past professions.
Featured photos include men posing with vehicles – including a motorcycle and Cadillac, in a boxing ring, gardening, a baker in an apron and a tongue in cheek photo of a resident in partial firefighting gear.
The lodge’s activities officer Vicki Sanchez said the calendar encouraged the men to step outside of their comfort zones and try something different.
“The ladies were a bit more eager, even though the men had less to show, which was funny,” she said.
“The men were harder to persuade, but once they got into the groove of it, they were loving it.”
Vicki said the ladies’ calendar had been a huge success, with the stunt garnering TV coverage, resulting in calendars being sold all around Australia.
She said she hoped the calendar would be as big a hit as the ladies one, but the main goal was to challenge the men to experience something new.
Glen Hardwick posed for the June picture on top of a motorcycle.
The 77 year-old said he enjoyed the experience and ladies from the lodge told him he looked “cute”.
“I had a fantastic time. It’s something I never dreamed I’d do,” he said.
