THE Nutcracker is coming back to the centre stage this holiday season, with the Sydney City Youth Ballet’s festive production.
Returning to The Concourse in Chatswood, audiences can watch the magic at both evening and matinee sessions from December 18-23.
Where the stars of tomorrow perform alongside the stars of today, former principal of the Salzburg Ballett Daniel Asher Smith will bring the magical role of Drosselmeyer to life, as the Sydney City Youth Ballet is also joined by artists of The Australian Ballet with soloist Sharni Spencer and coryphee Nathan Brook dancing the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince, and corps de ballet member Cameron Holmes dancing both the roles of The Nutcracker Prince and The Sugar Plum Prince at select performances.
Also guesting are Michael Braun (former principal with the Royal New Zealand Ballet), Henry Driver (formerly Melbourne City Ballet), as well as Katie Pianoff and Brian Lynch reprising their roles as The Parents.
The production is presented by artistic director Lucinda Dunn with additional choreography by Paul Boyd.
Tickets start from $35.
