A NEW train linking Adelaide and Brisbane is set to launch onto Australian tracks late next year.
Sixteen departures of The Great Southern train have been scheduled for its much-anticipated inaugural season.
The train will operate from December 6 next year (2019) and bookings are now open.
Twenty-eight carriages will be hauled by two locomotives and will accommodate up to 214 guests.
Passengers can choose between Gold Single and Gold Twin cabins, as well as the more exclusive Platinum cabins.
As travellers have come to expect from sister train voyages, The Ghan and Indian Pacific, exceptional food and wine and world-class hospitality will be at the heart of the Great Southern experience, along with opportunities to explore beyond the tracks.
The two-night, three-day journey from Adelaide to Brisbane features opportunities to step off the train to experience the Grampians National Park, the nation’s capital Canberra, and the beautiful northern New South Wales coastline.
The four-day southbound journey will include a beachside dining experience in northern NSW, a day in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle region and then Victoria’s iconic Twelve Apostles.
Fares start from $1649 per person for Gold Single accommodation, $1829 per person for Gold Twin and $3899 per person for Platinum, including dining, beverages and Off Train Excursions.
