WHILE many shops are virtually disappearing into the world wide web, offering their wares only through online stores, one leading insurance provider is bucking the trend.
Australian Seniors Insurance Agency, part of the Greenstone Financial Services group, has opened the doors of the Australian Seniors store – its first ever bricks-and-mortar store – in Sydney’s Castle Hill.
The pilot store is designed to let people set up new policies with ease. Key features of the store, in Castle Towers Shopping Centre, include a concierge, lounge areas, self-serve booths with touch screens and information hub stations, private consulting rooms and free WiFi.
There are also plans to hold workshops on financial topics relating to seniors.
“We’re also launching Supporting Seniors, a community support initiative to help local community groups,” said Australian Seniors spokesman Simon Hovell.
Greenstone Financial Services chief customer officer Sarah Richards said market research revealed seniors value quality face-to-face communication and the company saw a great opportunity to expand its current on-the-phone services.
In-store, people can speak to a customer service consultant or use the self-service area to connect with the call centre team. Ms Richards said she hoped the store would be the first of many across the country.
It is open Monday to Saturday, phone 1300-071-528, seniors.com.au
