New vessel announces Adelaide and Fremantle as homeports.

CRUISE & Maritime Voyages (CMV) will homeport its new vessel Vasco da Gama in Adelaide and Fremantle while also cruising from Sydney and Singapore.

CMV will also be the world’s first cruise line to visit the South Australian port Wallaroo, the gateway to the Copper Coast and Yorke Peninsula, and close to the renowned Clare Valley food and wine region.

The vessel will also make maiden calls to Kuri Bay (WA), Portland (Vic), Phillip Island (Vic) and Sandakan (Borneo) on its 2019/20 Australasian season

Cruises will range from a two-night Western Australian weekend escape, to 10-night voyages around Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia, to exotic escapes to Southeast Asia.

The introduction of Broome to CMV’s itineraries will be a big drawcard while favourites such as Geraldton (WA), Melbourne and Semarang (Indonesia) will return. A grand 45-night voyage from Singapore to London will conclude the season.

Vasco da Gama will become the first cruise ship to visit four South Australian ports in one voyage (Adelaide, Wallaroo, Penneshaw-Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln).

She will also visit some of Western Australia’s great regional destinations such as Esperance, Albany, Busselton, Fremantle, Geraldton, Broome and Kuri Bay.

CMV Australia’s managing director, Dean Brazier, said Cruise & Maritime Voyages had a high level of repeat patronage so it was important to offer a range of new options on Vasco da Gama.

The 2019/20 itineraries will make regions such as Tasmania and Australia’s North West more accessible and affordable, hopefully encouraging more Australians to explore their own backyard

Vasco da Gama offers two pools, a state-of-the-art Wellness Centre and Spa, a two-tiered theatre, five bars and lounges and six dining venues featuring cuisine from around the world and the ‘Chef’s Table’ with a degustation menu.

Vasco da Gama’s first Australian voyage will depart from Sydney on December 1 next year.

It is well suited to solo travellers with 40 cabins designated for guests travelling by themselves.
