GREENLAND and Iceland feature in the latest fully-escorted special readers’ offer tour from The Senior and Travelrite.

And as if that’s not enough, we’ve thrown in Amsterdam, the Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands and Edinburgh as well.

The tour flies into The Netherlands capital of Amsterdam where travellers will enjoy a sightseeing tour and city canal cruise and another free day to explore the city’s attractions … perhaps the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum.

On Day 4 it’s all aboard MS Rotterdam– and after a day at sea to enjoy the ship’s facilities, the first port of call is Torshavn on the Faroe Islands midway between Iceland and Norway.

The 18 islands are rugged and rocky and renowned for their incredible scenery and bountiful birdlife. A tour highlight will be watching the puffins while cruising past the extraordinary Vestermanna cliffs.

Next stop is Eskifjordur in Iceland, which looks directly onto the mighty mountain Holmatindur rising from the shining blue water, followed by Akureyri, the unofficial capital of northern Iceland.

In another tour highlight, the group will take a whale-watching boat trip from Husavik – renowned as offering the highest chance of seeing whales than from any other place in Iceland.

It will be cameras at the ready when the cruise docks at Isafjordur, because the group will then head to Westfjord, see the Buna Tungua River and the waterfall in Tunguskogur, and experience the awesome beauty of fjords and mountains rising from the sea.

The tour cruises through Prince Christian Sound before making for Greenland, with stops at Nanortalik, Paamiut and Qaqortoq before returning to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik for two days’ sightseeing.

Next port of call is Lerwick in the Shetland Islands to visit Scalloway Castle, the Scalloway Museum and the Tingwall Valley with its Norse heritage. And, of course, there will be Shetland ponies.

It’s then on to Scotland, with stops at Inverness and Edinburgh before sailing back to Amsterdam for the flight home.

Greenland & Iceland Explorer Cruise, August 15-September 8, 2019, from $10,715 per person twin share.
