The doors have officially opened on a new $250 million vertical retirement community in Brisbane.
Retirement village operator Aveo opened the Newstead – Brisbane’s first integrated vertical retirement community – this week.
The 19-storey development includes 144 independent living apartments including eight penthouses, plus 154 aged care beds and apartments.
Features include 24/7 support including an on-site tech ‘angel’ who can help residents set up their technology and will troubleshoot any problems they might have from setting up their smart TVs to installing Google Home.
Anyone who moves in can also access a residents’ app and voice-activated smart home technology.
“We’re seeing that seniors are embracing technology at a rapid pace, which is why we want to ensure our residents can enjoy the many benefits of the ever-changing digital game,” Aveo Group chief executive Geoff Grady said.
There is also pet-friendly accommodation and a 3000sq m recreation space on the fifth level with an activity lawn, golf simulator, theatre, day spa, restaurant and bar.
On-site care services include a 24/7 registered nurse, GPs and allied health professionals.
Situated above Gasworks Plaza, the multi-storey retirement community has views over the city from the rooftop lounge and a floor-to-ceiling glass private dining room.
And Aveo has also recruited Brisbane food legend Gillian Hirst, as the executive chef and operator of their restaurant.
The landmark retirement community was officially opened by Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady and Queensland’s Assistant Minister of State and Veteran Affairs Jennifer Howard.
