WE’VE all heard of bird’s eye views but the Vienna Tourist Board took this to a new level when it sent two eagles into the skies to capture footage of the city.
And those eagles, Fritzi and Bruno, did a great job.
One was kitted out with a 360-degree camera and the other with a 16:9 format camera.
The project was a world first. Never before have eagles wearing cameras been used to capture footage of a major city.
Vienna Tourist Board chief executive Norbert Kettner said the sheer scale of Vienna’s beauty could only be seen from above.
“We want this unusual video to turn people all over the world into Vienna fans and inspire them to come to the city,” he said.
All necessary animal welfare clearances were obtained before starting the project.
Fritzi and Bruno took to the skies in October 2017, taking off from Austrai’s tallest landmark Danube Tower and a hot air balloon launched from the grounds of Palais Schwarzenberg.
