Lions Clubs around the country are boosting their support for farmers struggling to cope with the crippling drought.
With 99 per cent of NSW and 60 per cent of Queensland in drought, Lions Clubs are on a mission to raise extra cash for farmers doing it tough.
For the past 12 years the Lions’ Need for Feed program has been collecting donations and rallying up volunteers across Australia to transport stock and animal feed to farmers in times of crisis.
Now the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF) has ramped up its efforts to raise money for fodder and essential items to support farming communities through this difficult time.
The funds raised by the foundation will be distributed to local Lions Clubs in drought affected communities to help farming families in need.
“Farmers and their families are struggling to cope with the crippling drought right now in Australia and Lions Australia Foundation is committed to doing whatever we can to assist those affected,’ said ALF chairperson Tony Benbow.
“Through Lions incredible network of1200 local clubs we can be sure that goods will be transported quickly and the support will go to where it is most needed.”
“Every donation counts and every dollar donated this appeal will be used to support those in need,” added Mr Benbow.
Donations can be made through any local Lions Clubs or through the Australian Lions Foundation, alf.lions.org.au
