NUTRITIONIST and author Catherine Saxelby has provided plenty of food for thought for her readers over the years. Now, one of her most successful books is back with some added ingredients.
Saxelby has published 12 books, including Nutrition for Life, which has sold almost half a million copies, and The Complete Food and Nutrition Companion, which has become one of Australia's favourite kitchen reference books since its release in 2012.
Like a much-loved, freshly reinvented kitchen classic, the latter title has been revised and re-released featuring new material focusing on new food trends.
The revised edition highlights recent changes to the way people consume food and examines growing wellness and dietary trends, measuring popular perceptions against the science.
It contains information and discussion on topics including the supplement industry, low FODMAP, vegan, keto and sugar-free diets, and the links between women's reproductive health and nutrition, and fructose and obesity.
It also takes a comprehensive look at coconut oil, weighing scientific facts against the perceived benefits of the so-called "cure all" product.
Saxelby is an award-winning nutritionist, blogger and food commentator and won the Bruce Chandler Book Prize for food writing in 2014.
