AS MANY solo travellers know, it’s not always easy or affordable to go on a cruise alone
Often, singles travelling alone pay the same cost for their accommodation as a couple, which is effectively a 100 per cent increase on twin share per person prices.
So Captain Cook Cruises has stepped up and is offering a single surcharge between only 25%-35% per cent on normal twin share prices for all Murray Princess three-, four- and seven-night cruises.
“A lot of companies charge a 75 per cent or even 100 per cent solo surcharge. We believe offering a surcharge between 25 per cent and 30 per cent is exceptional value for solo travellers.” said Julie-Anne Briscoe, Marketing Manager, SeaLink South Australia.
The Murray Princess herself is ideal for solo travellers. Being a small ship, it only accommodates up to 120 passengers, meaning solo travellers can easily meet like-minded people or groups.
If you just want alone time, the ship is big enough to find the perfect nook to simply enjoy the ever-changing Murray River scenery or get lost in a book.
Onboard and on-shore activities occur range from playing bingo to bocce, to visiting riverside towns, cellar doors, a sheep shearing show and an Aboriginal conservation park.
Meals include a hearty hot buffet breakfast each morning, a two-course or buffet lunch each day and a three-course or buffet dinner each evening.
There is a captain’s dinner and dance and a barbecue dinner and bush dance on the river bank. All dining is in large-group seating and for dinners everyone is assigned to the same table each evening.
