One of the most influential rock bands ever, Eric Burdon & The Animals, formally disbanded almost 50 years ago, never to be forgotten.
But such is the power of the UK outfit’s music that it lives on in the form of two touring bands, each with at least one original member.
And one of them, The Animals, is coming to Australia in October/November, led by founding member and drummer John Steel.
Joining him will be Mick Gallagher, the British band’s original keyboardist, Danny Handley on guitar and vocals and Roberto Ruiz on bass and vocals.
The Animals celebrated nine top 50 hits on the Australian charts, reaching number two with The House Of The Rising Sun.
Performers of the stature of Bruce Springsteen freely admit to drawing from their sound.
Other classic hits fans will hear on tour include We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, When I Was Young, I Put A Spell On You and Bring It On Home To Me.
The screaming girls may be grandmothers now but the song remains the same.
