A GROUP of passionate seniors are shaking things up in Rockingham.
Residents at Baptistcare's Gracehaven residential care facility kicked off 2018 with a commitment to achieving a healthier body and mind.
They are taking part in a wellness group and four times a week start their day with heat packs and smoothies crammed full of healthy ingredients.
Lorna Wheatley, 95, even named the smoothies that are served up.
"The top three creations are Shake Up Passion, which is orange and mango; Friends Delight based on banana and cacao; and Mixed Berry Heaven, which is based on berries and chia seeds," she said.
"The Wellness Group is not only proving to be delicious but it's great motivation for us to keep our minds and bodies moving."
After the smoothies it's time for seated exercises to music followed by a quiz designed to provide a fun brain workout.
Meditation and reminiscence sessions are incorporated into the program.
Lifestyle co-ordinator Kim Jordan said the group is proving extremely popular, with participants embracing the opportunity for a healthier approach to ageing.
"We've designed the program to support residents' physical, cognitive and mental wellbeing with activities that encourage them to stay active, and physically and mental stimulated," she said.
"There's a great social aspect."
