Art lovers will be able to immerse themselves in 10 straight days of creative fun at this year’s Horizon Festival.
The popular festival will return to Caloundra from August 24 to September 2 featuring performance, visual art, music, street art, comedy, theatre, dance and new media.
The Sunshine Coast festival aims to celebrate local artists alongside guests from around the nation and the world.
Highlights include the String Symphony event which will see the public controlling a giant four-metre tall illuminated puppet, with more than 1km of rope. This will be on in Palmview and Cotton Tree, August 24-September 2.
The Bunker in Eumundi looks set to be a popular destination with poets and storytellers from August 11-September 1.
There will be workshops and a competition showcasing local and international performers.
Art, performance and the tidal landscape will meet in spectacular fashion during Patterns in the Landscape exhibitions at Caloundra, Coolum and Mooloolaba on August 25, 26 and 29. Members of Manning Daly Art will create large-scale artworks inscribed on the sand by performers.
The festival will also offer the opportunity for visitors to take part in interactive underwater experiences at locations throughout Cotton Tree and Mooloolaba by downloading a special audio app.
Other highlights include performances by comedian Arj Barker and an interactive performance by Dangerous Song which will pay tribute to the black crested gibbon.
