IF wine is indeed the nectar of the gods, a new festival created to showcase the Pokolbin area in the Hunter Valley will be heaven on a stick for lovers of the good life on September 15.
But End 2 End will be much more than wine. Tables will groan with wonderful bush tucker, seafood, boutique beer and more, while there will be loads of great music to add to the bonhomie.
Spread around four Pokolbin venues, the festival involves more than 20 wineries, with buses shuttling between venues so guests can hop on and off as they please.
The hub will be Cypress Lakes, where fabulous wines from Tamburlaine, Peppertree and Pokolbin Estate will be available for tasting. There will be a masterclass from legends of the industry and an afternoon of rock and R&B poolside with Sydney’s Project REDinest
At McLeish Estate there will be wines from the host vineyard plus Brokenwood, Ernest Hill and Mount Pleasant. TV chef “Fast Ed” Halmagyi will host cooking masterclasses, while Hunter restaurateur Matt Dillow will lay on some nifty dishes.
At Ben Ean, check out wines from Andevine Wines, Hanging Tree Wines and Savannah Estate among others. Eats will be available from Pokolbin Angus Beef Co and Ben Ean’s restaurant, Baume, while The Parched Crow Brewing Co will serve up craft beer. Pat vs Cat, Outlaw Avenue and country rockers The Viper Creek Band will strut their stuff.
Bust out the flares and party like it’s 1979 at Drayton’s Family Wines, when tribute band ABBASBACK! hit the stage, as will GenR8, with their blend of funk, swing, rock and R’n’B.
Sample some great Hunter Wines from Drayton’s, Ivanhoe and Tinkler’s while enjoying the delights of The Log Press Cafe and Desserts from Sabor In the Hunter Dessert Bar.
Earlybird tickets are available for $43.95 (adults), with tickets for the shuttle bus $11.
Tickets include entry to all venues, entertainment and a festival glass. Some masterclasses may have a small charge.
