THE 60-year history of guide dogs will be on show in an exhibition at The Concourse Art Space in Chatswood, NSW, from January 17-28.
It will showcase the services and achievements of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT through photographs, posters and hand-painted ceramic model dog collection boxes.
There will also be opportunities to cuddle guide dog puppies, pat ambassador dogs and watch a guide dog demonstration.
Over the years, the organisation has experienced significant changes, from how dogs are bred and trained, to the innovative accessible technologies that give people with vision impairment freedom and mobility.
In the past 60 years, almost 2000 guide dogs have been trained; instructors and puppy raisers have walked about five million kilometres; and almost 25,000 people with sight loss have benefited from the organisation's services.
Pat a pooch: 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm January 17, 18, 20, 24, 25, 27.
