More than 13,000 participants from all overAustralia and more than 20 countries will converge on the Gold Coast in a few weeks for the 10th biennial Pan Pacific Masters Games.
They will compete in 44 sports during the 10-day event, starting November 5, during which two of the venues for the upcoming Commonwealth Games – Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre – will be put to the test.
“The Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games allows both former champions and those who never quite made it compete side-by-side in a friendly environment where no qualification is required,” said spokesman Cameron Hunt.
Memorable senior highlights at the last PanPac Masters in 2014 – also on the Gold Coast – included Graham Oborn’s gold in the over-70s sailing, Victorian James Sinclair’s record of 11.99 seconds in the over-90 men’s 60 metres sprint, and the ACT’s Theresa Jones taking out the women’s 75-and-over 8km cross-country in record time.
Entries are still open.
