Co-ordinated cancer treatment
The Canrefer website, an initiative of the Cancer Institute NSW, allows people to search for health care teams specialising in the treatment and care of specific cancers.
People can search for their nearest specialist health care teams, radiation oncology, chemotherapy, palliative care and cancer genetics units.
Health Minister Jillian Skinner said the website would be especially valuable for regional doctors and people with cancer who face the obstacle of distance when it comes to cancer referrals, or for new doctors unfamiliar with the specific cancer services in their area.
The website also offers practical information including maps, opening hours, parking facilities and contact details for cancer care co-ordinators.
