EVER had the urge to try creative writing, dabble in world affairs or be bitten by the science knowledge bug? A world of learning is a mere mouse click away.
The world-first online University of the Third Age Online offers about 60 short courses, all for as little as a $30 membership each year.
U3A, as it is more widely known, was founded in France and now operates all over the world.
The independent U3A Online was founded in Canberra in 1998 to help celebrate the Year of the Older Person and now has more than 1000 members from as far afield as Iceland and India.
The courses are done for the simple love of learning. No educational qualifications are required and there are no tests, exams or assignments.
Courses can be studied online or downloaded and printed. All that's needed are some basic computer skills and a device - tablet, computer or another device with an internet connection.
Courses are either conducted independently or run by a course leader.
They are open to older people, disabled younger people and carers anywhere in the world.
They are especially suited to older people who are isolated geographically, physically or socially.
So if the history of castles is your thing or you want to improve your photography skills, if you've always wanted to study evolution or make music on a ukulele, don't let a few little grey hairs hold you back - challenge the little grey cells instead.
