QUEENSLAND police are calling for public assistance - to help name the latest litter of police puppies.
The seven German shepherd puppies, two males and five females, need names beginning with the letter "G", following police puppy naming convention.
Police want people to get creative - but the service has already ruled out the suggestion Puppy McPuppyface on Twitter.
The puppies are only a few weeks old, but when old enough they will begin training to either become a drug detection or general purpose police dog in the QPS Dog Squad.
There are currently 62 general purpose dogs, five firearm and explosive detection dogs and 10 drug detection dogs in the Dog Squad operating across the state.
General purpose police dogs are used to help track people and evidence, and to assist with crowd control.
As for names, Geraldine, Godzilla, Greg, Gandalf, Gollum, Gertrude, Gargamel, Geisha, Guilty, Gina and Geebus were just some of the name suggestions from the Brisbane Times news room - you can add your suggestions through this online form.
Dog Squad officers will choose the final list of names.
