THE new $10 note will soon be in wallets across the country following its release today (September 20).
Dame Mary Gilmore and AB "Banjo" Paterson - two of Australia's most prominent writers - remain on the note, along with its blue colour scheme.
But like the $5 note released last year, the new $10 note has several new design features to help combat counterfeiting, such as a top-to-bolltom window, fluroescent ink and raised printing.
It also has a tactile feature to assist vision-impaired.
The current notes will be progressively withdrawn, but can continue to be used.
A new $50 note will be rolled out late 2018 and new $100 and $20 notes in subsequent years.
