The closing date for grant applications for NSW Grandparents Day events has been extended to August 29.
COTA has 20, $750 grants to give to not-for-profit groups to help stage events which recognise the irreplaceable role grandparents have in their families and in the wider community.
This year's theme for Sunday, October 26 is, At Nan and Pop's Place.
Grandparents Day is traditionally celebrated through community events organised by schools, play groups and language and cultural centres, libraries and local councils.
Grants are only available for events held between Monday, October 20 and Sunday, October 26 (inclusive) and COTA NSW hopes to promote a diverse range of activities across the state.
Preference will be given to grant applicants who:
- come up with a unique or clever idea that may engage a large group in their community
- are holding an intergenerational event, involving people of all ages in their community
- are holding an event involving people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- are holding an event in a rural or remote area.
