NOMINATIONS for the 2018 NSW Grandparent of the Year award are now open and the NSW Government is calling on members of the community to nominate their favourite senior achievers.
Ageing minister Tanya Davies announced nominations for the awards and entries for the annual Grandparents Day photography competition were officially open on June 14.
"Grandparents Day is a chance for us to say thank you for the important role seniors play in our communities and remind them that their work does not go unnoticed," she said.
"I urge everyone to nominate somebody special to show how much you appreciate them," she said.
The winner of the 2017 award Dianne O'Brien- affectionately known as Auntie Di, said she was thrilled to be recognised for her lifetime's work improving the lives of children on the Central Coast.
"I don't do what I do to be recognised, but I was honoured to be chosen and I encourage everyone to nominate somebody special to show you appreciate them," she said.
Nominations for the award will close on September 7.
The theme for this year's photography competition is inter-generational relationships and entries are open up until September 14.
