Pattern: Crochet hat

TIP: You can crochet a winter bowler using a thicker yarn, but will need to miss a few rounds to achieve a snug fit.

1 Rnd 1. Crochet the bowler using double yarn. Make a slip knot on the hook, then
chain 2 stitches.

2 Work 9 double (single) crochet stitches onto the second chain stitch from the hook. Move
seamlessly to the next round in a spiral.

3 Rnd 2. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every stitch. The round consists of 18 dc (sc) in total.

4 Rnd 3. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every other stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening
stitches: 27 dc (sc) in total. Rnd

4. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every third stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening
stitches: 36 dc (sc) in total. Rnd

5. Crochet a dc(sc)-round without increases. 5 Rnd

6. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every fourth stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening stitches: 45 dc (sc) in total. Rnd

7. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every fifth stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening stitches: 54 dc (sc) in total.Rnd 8. Crochet 1 dc (sc) onto every sixth stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening stitches: 63 dc (sc) in total. Rnds 9-21. Crochet dc(sc)-rounds. Rnd 22. The brim. Crochet 2 dc (sc) onto every other stitch; crochet 1 dc (sc) on the intervening stitches. Rnds 23-25. Crochet dc(sc)-rounds.

Finish the edge with a round of slip stitches. Cut yarn and fasten off.

The bowler hat is complete. Try the hat on now and again while crocheting. Your choice of yarn and personal way of crocheting will influence the final size of the work. If the bowler is too small, add stitches to rnd 9. If it is too big, remove the increase stitches on rnd 8.
