SENIORS wanting to take a peek inside Launceston's Eureka Elphinwood Gardens can at a community open day and seniors expo on Friday, May 11.
The independent seniors' rental village is holding the special event to celebrate Eureka Villages' move to Tasmania after the Queensland-based company bought five seniors villages in Launceston, Devonport and Hobart.
More than 20 local businesses and service providers will be at the expo, with many giving special talks including Tasmania Police about being safety conscious in the home, Catholic Care Tasmania about how to break hoarding and squalling habits, and arthritis specialist Martin O'Toole will be giving some really handy strength training tips to help prevent falls.
There will also be free hearing and blood pressure checks, and even a dog groomer to show us how to keep our furry companions in top condition.
Local businesses have also donated some great raffle prizes with all proceeds raised going to this year’s Winter Relief Appeal — and Eureka Elphinwood Gardens will also be staging free entertainment with complimentary snacks and refreshments throughout the day.
And if that’s not enough of a sweetener, Rotary Club Youngtown will also be cooking up a delicious, free barbecue for visitors to enjoy while mingling with the village’s delightful residents.
The open day and expo is on from 10am-3pm at Eureka Elphinwood Gardens, 35 Landsborough Avenue, Launceston.
