HER GARDEN may be small, but that hasn't stopped Queensland green thumb Betty Sullivan winning big in a garden competition.
The Palm Lake Resort Toowoomba resident recently took home not just one, two or three prizes for her garden, but four gongs for her pruning prowess.
Betty won three prizes in the garden competition run by her local paper, The Chronicle, including first prize for retirement/lifestyle unit dwelling, second spot for best floral garden and third place for best front garden.
She also claimed the top spot in the Palm Lake Resort's Garden Competition.
The avid gardener has been living with one of her daughters at Palm Lake Resort for six years and said she began working on her garden as soon as she moved in.
"When we moved in here I dug all of the plants out and I started my own design," Betty said.
"I work on my garden all the time. All year round - it's my hobby."
Betty has been gardening her whole life and her current garden includes eight types of flowers and shows just what you can do in a small space.
"I've only got a tiny garden so I made vertical gardens all the way around, it's really nice," Betty added.
Betty's love for gardening enabled her to grow almost everything her family ate. Even with six kids she hardly ever bought a vegetable.
