A CAT called Tiddles and his owner Frank have been called in to help seniors stay safe around the home.
The cartoon pair are the stars of a new animation campaign aimed at combatting slips, trips and falls in older adults.
The Make Your Home Safer campaign is part of the Western Australian government-run Stay On Your Feet falls-prevention program.
The key message is that preventing slips and trips can be as simple as making a few simple, low-cost changes.
Research has found about half of all falls happen in and around the home. Of these falls, 42 per cent happen in hallways and entryways, 17 per cent outside the home, 12 per cent in bathrooms and toilets and 10 per cent in the bedroom.
Make Your Home Safer points to the free home safety checklist and action plan available from the Stay on Your Feet website.
Injury prevention manager Rachel Meade said the resources will help keep already independent older people at home longer, but also assist those who may be less independent to make changes at home to regain their self-reliance.
"It is imperative that older Western Australians recognise that simple changes such as replacing torn carpets, removing mats, making sure your home is well lit and keeping pathways clear can go a long way towards preventing falls in and around the home," she said.
"We wanted to come up with a fun, engaging way of reminding older adults about these issues, and Frank and Tiddles certainly get the message across as well as keeping you entertained."
