FOR some spring means itchy eyes, sneezing and a runny nose.
Hay fever affects more than 3 million Aussies but the good news is there's help at hand.
The Hay Fever Help campaign is helping people take control of their symptoms.
While some can successfully self-manage their symptoms through over the counter medicines, others battle every year.
Campbelltown Hospital's consultant immunologist and allergist Connie Katelaris said uncontrolled hay fever can have a huge impact on the quality of a person's day to day life.
"Many Australians continue to put up with symptoms despite the availability or a range of effective treatment options," Professor Katelaris said.
"This campaign encourages people with uncontrolled symptoms to visit their doctor to identify the treatment option and management plan that suits them best. Doing this can help hay fever sufferers get back to enjoying life."
Professor Katelaris said uncontrolled hay fever was also a risk factor for asthma.
"It is important for people with uncontrolled hey fever symptoms to visit their doctor well before spring, to identify an appropriate management plan."
