MORE than a million Australians are risking their health because of asthma medication misuse.
Asthma Australia says about half of adult asthmatics overuse their asthma reliever medication, putting themselves at risk of increased flare-ups.
Data from the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research shows 49 per cent of people with asthma use reliever medication five to seven days a week, more than double the recommended amount.

Asthma Australia chief executive Michele Goldman said awareness was the first step in tackling the ongoing problem.
