GOLD Logie winner John Wood (Blue Heelers, Rafferty's Rules) is ready for some fun and laughs in the much anticipated 2018 national tour of the smash-hit theatre comedy revue Senior Moments.
He joins master satirist Max Gillies and Play School icon Benita Collings in what has been described as 'a seriously silly show for otherwise sensible seniors', with sketches and songs and performers who are old enough to know better.
One show highlight is a comedy sketch called 'Old School', where Benita Collings plays 'Miss Jane' teaching important lessons to all children over 60 in the audience.
"They are much older than the children I'm used to dealing with," Benita said. "But they do wear fewer nappies, which is helpful."
In 'Old School', nursery rhymes and bedtime poems are changed slightly to match the more senior audience, as seasoned cast member Russell Newman recites: 'Star light, star bright, Hope I make it through the night.'
The Musical Director and piano player is the immortal Midday Maestro Geoff Harvey. "The show is fantastic," Geoff said. "And I think I remember being in it last season. The good bits, anyway."
With hilarious sketches and brilliantly witty songs performed by some legendary showbusiness seniors, the Senior Moments comedy revue is coming to theatres in Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney and Perth from February 2018.
Senior Moments will be the first time John Wood has performed with Max Gillies in over 40 years.
"I can remember what Max was like in the mid-1960s and also in his mid-sixties. In both cases he was far too talented," John Wood said. "Max is a master of revue and I look forward to trying not to laugh during our sketches."
Senior Moments is described as 'a seriously funny revue for slightly old people'. If that's you (be honest!) then grab some tickets before you forget!
