DAVID Anderson takes equal delight in hooking trout and taking photographs - passions that are evident in his book Fly Fishing, Places to catch trout in Australia and New Zealand - where dramatic shots deliver you right to the action.
Visits to favourite back-waters and country streams in both Australia and New Zealand appear in stories and stunning photographs taken on trips with fellow fly fishers.
With characteristic wit and charm, Anderson makes it all seem easy and he's happy to share the benefit of his skill and expertise handling the 'twig', the rod he employs for small-stream fishing.
As well as writing about locations such as north east Victoria, the Thredbo River, Perisher Creek, Barrington Tops, Tasmania, the Monaro and New Zealand, David shares his expertise about fly rods, fibreglass rods, reels, flylines and leaders and small stream fly-boxes - favourite flies for small water trout.
David presents a witty, informative and well-illustrated book, certain to appeal to armchair enthusiasts and ardent anglers on both sides of the Tasman.
David Anderson was born in Sydney and travelled with his parents to America where he learned to fly fish with his father on summer trips to Wyoming.
A photographer by trade David has mostly focused on people. His website dsaphoto.com details his most recent work. Anderson's passion for small stream trout fishing is revealed through his blog and website at twigwater.com. The term twigwater derives from his use of a shortish lightweight rod (twig) with light tackle as being the most appropriate when fishing small streams.
