AUSTRALIA'S largest arts festival, this year’s Adelaide Fringe Festival will feature more than 1220 events.
Close to 6000 artists will present works across genres including comedy, music, theatre, cabaret, children’s events, visual arts, circus/physical theatre, dance, magic, film and digital events.
Of the 442 venues hosting festival attractions, the National Wine Centre, Plant 4 Bowden and Percy Court Studio are among the 144 newcomers.
A variety of Fringe hubs will span across suburban and regional Adelaide, from Gawler to the Fleurieu Peninsula and Mount Gambier to Whyalla, while Kangaroo Island has also jumped on board for the first time.
The 2018 festival switches on from February 16, with a street party and Parade of Light projections including the Australian premiere of Borealis, Swiss artist Dan Acher’s recreation of the Northern Lights. The festival continues until March 18.

Join the hunt
EVERYBODY loves a treasure hunt – from grandchildren to grandparents.
And during the Adelaide Fringe there’s a special family event all about getting generations out and having fun together, while learning about technology at the same time.
The GooseChase is an interactive scavenger hunt that challenges players with hundreds of missions, puzzles and tasks using a smartphone app. They range from completing physical activities to answering questions or puzzles in Fringe venues and city landmarks.
To promote the game, a special GooseChase: The Mall Mini-Hunt was held in January and 65-year-old Annette Worden, of McLaren Vale, took part with her daughter Sarah Edwards and granddaughter Matilda.
“It was really good to watch the grandchildren taking part,” Annette said. “It was well organised and I think this a great way for the family to spend time together.”
To take part in the GooseChase during the Fringe, participants need to download the GooseChase smartphone app and join the game ‘Adelaide Fringe 2018’. Participants have from February 2 to March 18 to complete the scavenger hunt – and one lucky participant win a trip for two to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
