ALL eyes will be on Joondalup’s city centre this month when Kaleidoscope Festival returns with its world-class light and illumination display.
Kaleidoscope will transform the area into an electrifying and energetic wonderland from November 9-12.
The 2017 program will include Will-o-the-Wisps, the Birds of Lumos, Science Wonderland, Fantastic Planet (by Amanda Parer), All You Need Is Love (by Carla O’Brien) and Face-Off (by David Jones).
Last yeat’s inugural festival was named WA’s Best New Event and Best Cultural, Arts or Music Event at the 2017 Australian Event Awards.
Under creative director Drew Anthony, Kaleidoscope has secured thought-provoking and otherworldly attractions never before seen in WA.
Will-o-the-Wisps by Mandylights comprises thousands of individually controlled light “wisps” on the Walk of Wonder.
In the dark night, the mysterious wisps are never truly revealed. Instead they glow softly, appearing and disappearing seemingly at random in the gardens, working together to form a huge illuminated canvas.
The Birds of Lumos by Amigo and Amigo are Rowi and her chick, large-scale light sculptures inspired by the rare, flightless kiwi that dazzle with a gorgeous display of colour and light.
Science Wonderland will take place from 5.15-7.15pm before the lights come on. Hosted by Scitech, it will include science shows designed to ignite curiosity.
There will be a mix of experimentation, interaction and amazing demonstrations.
