MOTOR enthusiasts with a taste for all things vintage are gearing up for a trip back in time at the 2017 Bay to Birdwood classic on September 24.
This year’s event will see more than 1500 classic vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1981 travel from Barratt Reserve at The Bay to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood.
The event has been a fixture on the SA calendar since 1980 and will return to its original route this year following the completion of roadworks in Eastern Parklands.
The day will start off with breakfast at Barratt Reserve at 6am and the first classes of vehicles will be waved from the starting line at 8.30.
The museum will host festivities at the finish including musical entertainment, a fashions in the field competition. food, children’s entertainment and judging of vehicles from the Concours d'Elegance and Preservation classes.
Members of the public are welcome.
Gates for the finish celebration will open at 10am, with the first vehicles expected to arrive about 11am.
