EVEN if you have never tried windsurfing, the sight of dozens of single-sail craft skimming across the water and hopping the waves is magical.
The Lancelin Ocean Classic was started by a group of enthusiasts back in 1986 and is now the longest running windsurfing event in Australia.
If you are looking for a day trip with a difference during your stay in Perth, head north from the city on January 14-17 for the fishing town of Lancelin, about 127km away and just a few kilometres from the start of Indian Ocean Drive.
The event attracts world class competitors and spectators from around the world to the crayfishing town.
Competitors from more than 18 countries will compete in the 2016 event.
