THE Ningaloo Reef humpback whale interaction tours will run in Exmouth and Coral Bay on Western Australia's Coral Coast between August and November.
Last year the in-water swimming with whale tours were offered as a preliminary trial. More than 1600 people took the opportunity to swim with these giants of the ocean.
All tours offered focus on small group whale encounters with a maximum of 10 swimmers. Only five people are allowed in the water at a time with one whale pod.
This strict swimmer limit is in keeping with the Ningaloo eco-tourism guidelines and interactions are completely on the whale's terms.
The humpback whale tours are conducted over the entire Ningaloo Marine Park, which includes the 300 kilometres of reef between Coral Bay and Exmouth, the North-West Cape, Lighthouse Bay and the Murion Islands, ending at Bundegi Beach within the Exmouth Gulf.
