THOSE who have an adventurous spirit, enjoy fresh Aussie-grown food and are longing to leave urban life behind for a week – all for a good cause – will be interested in this unique trek along Tasmania’s east coast.
In February, Landcare Australia is teaming up with Inspired Adventures to offer a seven-day Trek for Aussie Farmers with the goal of raising a total of $30,000.
Funds raised will go to Landcare groups that focus on sustainable agriculture and work on projects to aid the farming industry.
The trek will be led by cattle farmer Charlie Arnott, the great-great-great grandson of the original biscuit founder.
Participants must be fit and prepared for the 43-kilometre hiking adventure which starts in Launceston and finishes in Derwent Valley seven days later. The trek will take the group through historic towns and places of natural beauty, including North East Tasmania, St Columba Falls, the Bay of Fires, Oyster Bay, Triabunna, the twin peaks of Bishop and Clark, Darlington, the famous convict settlement of Port Arthur, Hobart, and Huon Valley. Along the way they will be sampling the best of local Aussie produce straight from the source.
If you think this trek is for you, then you will be tasked to raise $1,000 or more prior to the start of the trek, with the aid of a fundraising tool kit and support from Inspired Adventures.
The cost of the trek is an additional $2,950 (flights not included).
Registrations close September 30 and there are just 17 places.
