CONVICTS will all be roaming the streets of Hartley on All Hallows Eve for Back to Hartley.
Visitors will be treated to the town's history thanks to members of the Lithgow Living History group, who will be in full colonial costume and giving out complimentary lashings to anyone who looks at them the wrong way.
One of the best places to soak up the village's past is from inside the convict cells and courthouse.
But those more interested in the present day will still find plenty to do.
Art lovers can see metal artist Ron Fitzpatrick's work at the Talisman Gallery and see the displays at the Central West's only Aboriginal art gallery, Kew-Y-Ahn Gallery.
There will also be plenty of entertainment, with live music by the Lithgow Folk Club and performances by Sally Anne's Dancers.
Hartley Historic Site manager Steve Ring said the event was voted as Lithgow's best community event last year.
"Events such as Back to Hartley breathe new life into this beautiful site and are a chance tor the community to learn about their Australian heritage 'on location'," he said.
The heritage event will wrap up the weekend of Halloween celebrations in neighbouring Lithgow.
Vivid-style lighting displays, spooky decorations, community Trick or Treating and even a Michael Jackson Thriller dance-off are all part of the fun visitors can expect.
Back to Hartley will be held at Hartley Historic Site on Old Bathurst Road October 30 from 9am - 4pm.
Tickets $5 per vehicle, with proceeds going to the Lithgow Optimists Club.
