POWDER hounds from Sydney in search of snow don’t need to head too far to find the perfect spot to chill this winter.
In fact, there are three reasons to visit the famous wine region in June – and Snow Time in the Garden at Hunter Valley Gardens is one of them.
The annual snow-fest, from June 24-July 16 is an opportunity to experience an icy wonderland over three huge weeks, including the winter school holidays. It’s a great day out with the grandchildren.
There’s a giant ice skating rink, mega-ice toboggan, ice sculptures – and you can even build a snowman in the man-made snow play zone.
Also on until June 30 is the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival. It showcases the region’s wine and food culture with a series of themed events throughout May and June.
From gourmet dinners at award-winning restaurants to vineyard tours, winemaking masterclasses, hands-on cooking classes and cosy evenings beside an open fire with friends, there’s something for everyone.
If cheese is your thing, the Cheese Lovers Festival, June 17-18, is a must.
Held at the Sebel Kirkton Park, there will be more than 50 stalls, an exclusive cheese lunch and dinner menu, cooking with cheese workshops, cheese-making classes and even a cheesecake competition.
Live music and a kids zone with giant yard games and more will make this a great day out for the extended family.
