TO celebrate 60 years of European women exploring the Australian outback, SEIT Outback Australia will re-enact the original "Petticoat Safari Tour", which saw the first all-female tourist group in Australia set out from Alice Springs "on safari" to discover Uluru for themselves.
From October 20-23, the tour will take an off-road journey to retrace the steps of these pioneering women - camping under the stars and navigating remote parts of Central Australia over three days.
Tour participants will meet in Alice Springs on the first night to hear from original tourer Edna Bradley, who will show footage from the 1957 trip.
From there the group will make its way to the base of Uluru via off-road vehicles, following the original route as closely as possible.
The fully guided tour costs $1780 per person and includes accommodation for three nights, all camping equipment and meals.
