IMAGINE sipping a glass of champagne as you soar over the MacDonnell Ranges.
That’s the experience on offer with Australia’s biggest hot air balloon, launched in the Northern Territory recently.
Alice Springs-based company Outback Ballooning’s newest balloon can carry 24 passengers plus pilot, making it the largest commercial hot air balloon operating in Australia.
Its basket is divided into four separate passenger compartments plus one for the pilot.
It was handmade in Bristol by Cameron Balloons, who used more than 2.5kms of fabric and 16km of thread to make the balloon.
Outback Ballooning is taking passengers on early morning flights to watch the sunrise over the Northern Territory landscape.
Flights generally take off near Alice Springs and fly over the historic Owen Springs Cattle Station. The experience also includes a champagne breakfast.
