Garden parties soaked in style and sophistication and foot-thumping country music would seem to be strange bedfellows but not when it comes to the Clarence Valley Country Muster.
On October 15-16 garden lovers from far and wide will stroll around muster organiser Wendy Gordon's property in the Ulmarra district a few kilometres north of Grafton.
For no charge they'll enjoy a variety of plants - including poppies, roses and agapanthus - all blooming on the dairy farm, and even enjoy a classy high tea for just $10.
"Visitors won't have to worry about being hemmed-in by caravans, they won't start arriving for days later," said Wendy.
"We've already got seven busloads of garden club members booked in for the two garden party days."
Then eight days later the farm gates open again for the muster and the business of fine music, great local food and more bush hospitality that you can poke a stick at.
Singer song/writer Adam Harvey is the headline act making his first appearance and performing songs from his Harvey's Bar album.
Local legend and bush poet Ray Essery will use the muster to launch his new CD My Mates and Me a collection of stories, yarns and verse gathered across the Northern Rivers Region and produced by another legend Slim Pickens who has put his music behind most of the verse and stories.
