SYDNEY'S Waverley Council is using Skyfii's guest WiFi and data analytics services to provide free high-speed internet to its more than 2.2 million visitors and residents in the Bondi area.
Visitors to the "Golden Mile" will be granted guest WiFi access in areas across Bondi, including all of Bondi Beach and park, Tamarama Beach and Bronte Beach.
The service will be ready just in time for summer when the area becomes one of Australia's most prominent tourist hot spots.
Meanwhile, Victoria has cemented its reputation as Australia's tech leader with the launch of the country's largest and fastest free Wi-Fi network across Melbourne's CBD.
Visitors can now use the VicFreeWiFi service within all CBD train stations, the Bourke Street Mall, Queen Victoria Market, and South Wharf Promenade at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. More access points will be switched on over coming months.
A free WiFi pilot in Bendigo and Ballarat since December 2015 has recorded one million sessions in the two regional cities.
Once complete, the VicFreeWiFi service will be the largest free public Wi-Fi network of its kind in Australia, covering an area of 600,000 sq m across the three cities.
