INFLATABLE Refugee, the enormous work that has been touring the globe, has arrived in Melbourne in time for World Refugee Day today (June 20).
En route to major cities around the world, the work sailed down the Yarra River before arriving at its temporary home at the Immigration Museum from June 19-25 to coincide with Refugee Week (June 18-24).
The colossal five metre-high work of a crouched figure was created by Belgian artists Schellekens & Peleman.
Developed to highlight the global refugee crisis, it is constructed of the same material as the boats that carry refugees across the Mediterranean Sea.
It can be seen at the Immigration Museum, 400 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
