SOUTH Australians of all ages are invited to get involved with the Through the Lens: 2016 Seniors Card photography competition by voting for the People’s Choice Award.
This year, more than 400 entries were received, more than doubling last year’s entries.
The wider public are encouraged to log on to the SA Health Facebook page to ‘Like’ their favourite entry from a selection of more than 370 eligible photos.
The Through the Lens Senior’s Card photography competition started in 2012 to celebrate the skills and creativity of older South Australians.
Finalists will be chosen in five categories, including regional SA, nature, lifestyle and recreation, family and friends, and seniors in action.
All shortlisted images will be exhibited at the Adelaide Convention Centre from October 6, with those images then displayed at the Adelaide City Council Library in Rundle Mall throughout November.
The winner of the People’s Choice Award wins an iPad and a large ready-to-hang print of their photo.
The overall winning photo will appear on the cover of the 2017 Seniors Card Discount Directory, and the photographer will also receive a custom piece of art from the Jam Factory.
The shortlisted images and the overall winner will be announced by Minister Zoe Bettison on 6 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
"This year, the Through the Lens Senior’s Card photography competition will further showcase our everyday artists who often don’t receive the level of recognition their talent deserves with the People’s Choice Award," said Minister for Ageing Zoe Bettison.
